WORLD ISSUES
God upholds the world with His hands, protecting both the sinner and the saint. Though sin is grave in his sight, God gives the sinner time to repent since it is His desire that all men should repent and come into the knowledge of the truth.Occasionally God does remove His protective shield on the world, nations, and individuals, because of sin.
JUDGMENT OF THE FIRST WORLD:
And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Genesis 6:13
The world of Noah had despised God’s laws. When God removed His hand from the deep, waters flooded the whole earth killing everything with breath in its nostrils. God, who does not punish the guilty with the guiltless, saved faithful Noah and his family.
AN EXAMPLE OF THE JUDGMENT ON A SINFUL NATION:
“And the Lord said, “Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous,I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know.” Genesis 18:20-21
The above verse shows that God, in His infinite mercy, was going to give the nation of Sodom and Gomorrah one last chance.
“And they called to Lot and said to him, ‘where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.” Genesis 19:5
As the verse above demonstrates, the men of Sodom and Gomorrah wanted to have carnal relations with God’s angels, disguised as men. With their cup of iniquity full, the angels saved only obedient Lot and his two daughters before raining fire on the two nations.
AN EXAMPLE OF THE JUDGMENT OF AN INDIVIDUAL:
“Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods.And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’” Luke 12:16-20
From the parable of the rich fool, we learn what befalls an individual who lives a life apart from God. The rich fool had everything except God. While still planning his business expansion, oblivious of the fate – death – that awaits all human beings, God removed His hand on his life. He was dead the next day, all his plans came to nothing, and his wealth passed on to others. When shall we learn that everything is vanity, in the end, except the knowledge of God that leads to eternal life?
YOU HAVE A CHOICE:
From the creation of man until now, we discover that a successor generation is more evil than the one it replaces. By extrapolation, it is obvious that our world has sinned more than all previous generations. Truth became the first casualty in our time, as hype took precedence over substance, and as sin became a god that is glorified daily in our lives.
It is no wonder then that the present world has the greater condemnation and will endure the greater wrath because it failed to utilize the knowledge it gained from studying past generational failures and correct itself. We have the examples of the first world, nations, and individuals, who suffered for the rejection of God and His Law, and yet we have failed to take heed.
The percentage of the world’s poor is higher today than in past generations. Despite our technological advances, we are still unable to feed and give medical aid to the most needy. The gap between the rich and the poor, rich and poor countries, continues to widen, even as the rich nations are making a stand on Mars.
Wickedness abounds even the more despite our laws and law enforcement efforts. Horrific crimes that would shame even the demons are on the increase. Diseases that were alien to the earth have appeared in our time. As soon as we find a cure for one, another takes its place because we refuse to change some of the behavioral patterns that brought them in the first place.
The individual wants to live a life without God. Society mocks God by the laws they enact. Parents no longer give quality time to their children as they pursue their own pleasures. The children, left to their own devices play computer games and or enter chat rooms where predators are waiting to snare the more vulnerable.
You can continue to follow the world and perish or accept a new life in Christ and be saved. We are in the time of the end. Our sins have already condemned our world. The antichrist, whom the world would soon welcome, is preparing to take over.
No decision means you are with the world. Death can take you out before you make a decision for Christ. Why wait? Your place in eternity could depend on the choice you make after reading this.
